BANGLE VS. BRACELET
Bangle: Thought to originate in India, where armfuls are worn, the word is derived
from the hindi ‘bangri’, meaning glass bracelet; a bangle is a rigid bracelet, usually
made in glass, metal or plastic.
Bracelet: Derived from the Latin for arm, brachium, bracelets have been worn for
centuries. Excavations have uncovered examples dating as far back as 7,000
years ago. Across cultures, people have worn the adornment for symbolism,
cultural significance and religious ritual. Pieces are created in a range of materials
– the unifying feature is that it is worn around an arm – usually at the wrist.
